The Best Abdominal Exercises - The Best Ab Workout
Benefits of the best exercises for the abdominal muscles are
- to help stabilize and support our back,
- best workout methods on how to get a flat stomach,
- best workout methods on how to get six pack abs,
- and having a muscular mid-section also improves our physical appearance
These abs exercises are identified in order of effectiveness by a study conducted by Peter Francis, PhD, of the Biomechanics Lab at San Diego State University. Of course, the best abs workouts involve torso rotation, and involve all the abs muscles while doing the workouts.
The top five workouts are listed below in the order of effectiveness, and each would be an excellent addition to any fitness routine.

The Bicycle Maneuver
This is also known as the Pilates Criss Cross. I think that it is the hardest of the 5 abs workouts. However, it is also the most effective.
The Captain's Chair Exercise
The Captain's Chair is also known as a Power Tower by some manufactures. Also, some may call this abs workout the Knee Raise.
Crunch On An Exercise Ball
I was skeptical at first in using the abs ball. However, this has become my favorite abs workout. It really does tighten up those abs muscles.
Vertical Leg Crunch
I think that this abs workout is a little easier to do than the Bicycle Maneuver. But I believe that it is a little harder to do than the Captain's Chair Workout and the Ball Crunch.
Reverse Crunch
There is very little movement with this abs workout. It basically involves contracting your abs to slightly rotate your hip upward. It is a good workout for abs toning.
